Learn about our mission, our story, and the people behind our work.
Founded in 2017 by Terisa Tamang, Dhairya Cancer Foundation is a Nepal-based non-profit organization supporting cancer patients and their families through emotional care, awareness, mental health advocacy, and community programs.
In Nepal, many patients still face cancer with limited access to information, mental health support, or social understanding. Fear, stigma, financial hardship, and late diagnosis continue to affect thousands of families every year.
Our work focuses not only on awareness and prevention, but also on the emotional and financial realities of living with cancer. We support people so they can have the patience (dhairya) in the long journey of fighting cancer.
The word “Dhairya” means patience and courage in Nepali - a quality that every cancer patient needs, and that our foundation strives to instill in everyone we serve. Since our founding, we have grown from a small volunteer initiative to a nationwide organization with programs reaching across 20+ districts of Nepal.

President, Dhairya Cancer Foundation
We are dedicated to supporting cancer patients and their families through comprehensive emotional care, raising awareness about cancer prevention and early detection, and building supportive communities that stand with patients through their journey.
To support cancer patients and their families through awareness, emotional care, education, and community support while helping create a society that treats every cancer patient with compassion, respect, and hope.
We envision a Nepal where no one faces cancer alone. A future where every patient receives not just medical treatment, but also the emotional support, dignity, and community care they deserve. We dream of a society free from cancer stigma, where early detection saves lives.
A Nepal where no one faces cancer alone, and every patient receives compassion, dignity, and hope throughout their journey.
