Why This Work Matters

Understanding the human cost of cancer in Nepal — and why emotional care is essential.

Why It Matters

For many families in Nepal, cancer brings more than medical treatment.

For many families, a cancer diagnosis can mean emotional isolation, financial instability, interrupted education, social stigma, and overwhelming uncertainty.

Patients often carry invisible burdens — anxiety, depression, fear of becoming a burden, social withdrawal, and loss of confidence and hope. These emotional wounds can be as devastating as the physical disease, yet they often go untreated in a healthcare system focused primarily on medical intervention.

We believe emotional care is a core part of cancer treatment — not an afterthought, but a fundamental pillar of healing.

In Nepal, the challenges are compounded by limited resources, geographic isolation, and cultural stigma surrounding cancer. Many patients hide their diagnosis from their communities. Families drain their savings on treatment. Children drop out of school to care for sick parents. The ripple effects of a cancer diagnosis extend far beyond the individual patient.
